Every month we like to introduce one of our awesome staff members so you can get to know them better. This month, our Life & Health Broker Dimitry shares the memory of a slower-than-planned marathon in Greece.
You won the lottery! What’s your first purchase?
I’d probably call a couple of friends who happened to be really good with large amounts of money and designate them my financial babysitters. I’ve watched too many news clips about people ruining their lives with large winnings. Instead I’d put the money in their hands, and give myself a stipend while I go back to school for Business and Accounting. Then I’d find a promising company, buy it, and start working my way up from an entry position before I revealed myself as the owner.
Share one thing you love to do that you always strive to include in your daily routine.
I love listening to audiobooks and running. If I could do it every day, I would.
What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities?
Running and rock climbing are my top picks.
Tell us about one of your most memorable experiences.
My slowest marathon. I went to Greece with one of my best friends in honor of his grandfather who had just passed away. We signed up for the original marathon route. I had trained really hard and was ready for it. Fortunately – well, unfortunately for my friend, he got injured halfway through, which meant I got to take a really nice stroll through the Greek countryside, from outside of Athens all the way to the stadium. It was awesome.
What is your favorite Biggs story?
I came here from a different industry where people didn’t really like running into me. I love talking to people and having them perk up when I say I’m with Biggs. So much of the community has been affected by Biggs’ positive involvement. I’m still building my favorite Biggs Story.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?
Can I say the internet? I mean… if I can log on… I can get help… right?
Is your favorite season spring, summer, winter, or fall – and why?
Fall. I love going to Lake Lacamas and running the trail in the fall. Colorful, brisk, beautiful.
What does success look like to you?
Someone who takes really good care of their family and provides great service to their clients.
What was your first job?
I did landscaping as a kid. I got hired by a couple of master gardeners on Lake Coeur d’Alene, where I spent my summers throughout high school building their garden.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
I’ve always liked Dr. Manhattan. Can I be him?
What’s one challenge you’ve faced in life that you’re proud to have overcome?
My life changed after my dad passed away. Getting over all of that.
