Every month we like to introduce one of our awesome staff members so you can get to know them better. This month, our Personal Lines team member Ryan dishes some quality wisdom on how he defines success (it includes footwear!).
You won the lottery! What’s your first purchase?
Wow… definitely new house for myself and one for my daughter up in Seattle, so I always have a place to stay when I visit her and my sons. Technically that would be considered one big first purchase right?
Share one thing you love to do that you always strive to include in your daily routine.
Besides brushing my teeth… I would have to say working out, preferably in the early morning.
What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities?
Golf hands down, but anything outdoors such as hiking or paddle boarding. I love sports, I’m a very active person; and I hate to brag but I would consider myself an expert Cornhole player!
Tell us about one of your most memorable experiences.
Well I would be an awful father if I didn’t say becoming a father and my kids being born! But I will add in a few: teaching my older two kids to drive for the first time was a doozy, but watching my daughter graduate WSU was amazing, and the feeling was something out of this world.
What is your favorite Biggs story?
The bowling party was pretty fun, the remodel* was an experience… but the entire office being sick and then getting me sick within 48 hours of starting at Biggs was priceless, haha!
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?
That is a great question; so many things, but it would be a toss-up between deodorant, a toothbrush and toothpaste – but most likely nachos and beer!!
Is your favorite season spring, summer, winter, or fall – and why?
They all have their benefits here in the PNW, so I am a fan of each for their own reasons. But BBQing and Cornhole in the spring and summer with the kids, family, and friends is tough to beat for sure! I can play golf all year round!
What does success look like to you?
Achievement, drive, motivation, positive attitude, prioritizing your work and family time, being a good father, good friends… and a nice pair of brown shoes! A lot comes to mind, but I would say being a good father, husband/boyfriend, son, brother and friend is top on my list!!
What was your first job?
My first real W-2 job was at Eddie Bauer… yes I know.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Ugh, another tough question… toss-up again between super strength, ability to fly, or time travel!
What’s one challenge you’ve faced in life that you’re proud to have overcome?
I would have to say my dad dying when I was young, and not being in the same town as my kids.
*Pssst: if you haven’t seen our awesome first floor remodel yet, come in and check it out!
