Every month we like to introduce one of our staff members so you can get to know them better. This month, our Senior Account Executive Shannon tells us about her unstoppable love of reading, the memory of meeting her husband, and happily learning of Biggs’ zeal for Halloween.

You won the lottery! What’s your first purchase?

I would most likely be the responsible person and pay off my bills and contribute to my son’s college fund – but if I had to pick one thing for fun, I think I would pick a cross country road trip with my husband and son, stopping in every state, at as many roadside attractions as I can, in my Jeep Wrangler. It has been a dream for a long time to make it to every state in my Jeep – so far I have driven through 5 – only 43 more (continental) states to go 😊

Share one thing you love to do that you always strive to include in your daily routine.

I am a big fan of reading – it is by far the one thing that calms me down and keeps me energized. I try to read a little bit each day, even if it is just 5 minutes before I close my eyes.

What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities?

Like I mentioned, I am a big fan of reading. Every year I set a goal to read a certain number of books – this year I had to lower that goal a little since I was bringing home my son, but it is still set pretty high at 100 books by the end of the year – I am currently at 88 completed. I think I can finish 12 more by the end of the year. I also enjoy baking (the more interesting the recipe, the better) and crafting (doesn’t matter what type, I like all forms of crafting from knitting to painting to scrapbooking – I’m not very good at some of these but they are fun).

Tell us about one of your most memorable experiences.

I have been incredibly lucky to experience so many wonderful things in my life, but my two most memorable experiences are meeting my husband (I can remember exactly what he was wearing down to the silly socks with sandals) and hearing my son cry for the first time and knowing he was healthy. Both of those memories are etched in my mind; they were life changing moments.

What is your favorite Biggs story?

I love Halloween, but I don’t think I realized how much I loved it until I started working at Biggs. My first year seeing people dress up, decorate and just generally enjoy the month of October and Halloween so much was great – plus I got to wear a Cheshire Cat costume to work and see my coworkers be Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Best day ever!

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?

A fully stocked library… is that an option? I don’t think I would do so well without books.

Is your favorite season spring, summer, winter, or fall – and why?

I love fall – I like hoodies, jeans, leaves changing, the days getting shorter, the weather getting a little cooler and wetter – I don’t particularly care for pumpkin spice, but everything else that is fall I just love.

If you had a superpower, what would it be?

I would really like to read minds – humans and animals. It would definitely help sometimes to know what people are thinking – especially my little one and my puppies! I wonder how crazy they think I am 😊

What does success look like to you?

Being able to go home every night and not worry about bills or how to put food on the table, but just be genuinely happy to have had a productive day. I feel pretty successful where I’m at right now.
